The Sanskrit word ‘Shreya’ literally means ‘the auspicious’, referring to the path of spiritual evolution. Dharma Your Duty, Artha Wealth, Kama Pleasure and Moksha Liberation are the universal aspirations in human life. Ironically, life today circulates around mere chase for material acquisition and craze for sensory pleasure. This has set a monotony, boredom, saturation in quality of life, making an individual abandon their work, family, duty and seeker an early retirement or an escape from their environment.

The retreat is dedicated to give yourself a pause, an environment and material to re-educate ourself on the knowledge of life and living, derived from the Vedas. Discover the organic lifestyle of Vedas as applicable and pragmatic to contemporary times and context, with Vedanta sessions, group discussions, philosophical movie, Q & A sessions in an elevating environment with satvic food and conducive daily schedule.

    Retreat offers guided yogasana and pranayama sessions. Walk, jog and outdoor temple, water falls visits etc.

    Extract of themes from the Bhagavad Gita and Dharma Shashtra. No prior knowledge of Vedanta or Sanskrit is required to attend.

  • Group Discussion

    Interact, discuss and clarify your doubts

    Philosophical movies, group discussion and interactive Q and A sessions with scope for reflection and consolidation of the knowledge.

  • Satvic Food

    Room, board, stationeries and supplies

Meet the speaker

Rangarajan

Rangarajan, disciple of Swami Parthasarathy conducts the Upanishad lectures at the Aaranyaka retreat. The lectures include chanting of the Upanishad mantras, translation of the mantras, etymological derivation of key terminologies; interpretation and explanation on each mantra. The retreat schedule delivers material, guidance and a conducive ambience to study, reflect and unravel the sublime declarations on the Supreme Reality, Brahman.

The residential retreat is on 24, 25 & 26 January 2026, Republic Day (India) long weekend. As rooms are limited, your room booking is based on first come first allotted. This is a charitable education event. Participation is only by invitation to register.

    Attendees may drive to the Sangam on their own or reach by train TENKASI railway station or Madurai airport. You will be advised on further information upon signing up. Check in starts from 23 January Thursday.
